About Marlowe

Marlowe Carruth is a classically trained pianist who, after a lifetime of playing, singing, and teaching piano, has finally turned her attention to fulfilling her dream of composing music.

She released her debut EP, Eternal Light, in 2016.  It consists of original, uplifting piano melodies accompanied by equally inspirational orchestration.  Eternal Light earned Marlowe a nomination for Best New Artist, by Enlightened Piano Radio. She performed at the EPR awards ceremony in Nashville, TN at the Grand Ole Opry in October, 2017.

Marlowe began picking out melodies on the piano at the age of three. She earned a Bachelor of Music degree in piano performance and music education at Meredith College, and was honored with the title of Presser Scholar, an award given to the most outstanding senior music major.

Daughter of the late Cherry Folger – orchestrator for Terrytunes Cartoons and first female trumpeter to play with the North Carolina Symphony – Marlowe’s desire to compose was birthed at a very young age.  Her talented mother died of cancer when Marlowe was barely four years old.

She explains, “Exploring my mother’s compositions was a way to feel connected to her and learn from her musicianship.  I have always wanted to pick up her legacy.”

Marlowe resides in Raleigh, NC, with her husband, Robby.  They have two grown children and are enjoying being grandparents.  Music continues to run in the family!
